Catskills Visitor Center

We led and produced the concept, identity, exhibition and interior design, furnishing, interior wayfinding, as well as website design and development for the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskills Visitor Center in Mt. Tremper, a partnership between the Catskill Center and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

This redesign highlights the natural, recreational, cultural, agricultural, and historical resources of the Catskills, with purpose-built interactive exhibits that pay homage to the rich history of the area, while providing valuable information to Catskills visitors.

We commissioned vegan taxidermy throughout the visitor center from Aimée Baldwin.

The moving mural consists of nine scenes of Catskills history, painted in the Hudson River School style by Lauren Sansaricq. As the mural scrolls, the story of the Catskills from indigenous people to industrialization to the current preservation movement is projected onto the paintings.

We also designed a website for the visitor center ➝
