Sunview Luncheonette

The Sunview Luncheonette opened in 1963 by Greek husband and wife team Demetra (Bea) and Lou Koutros. It was open as a restaurant until 2008. In February of 2013, a group of neighbors and like-minded members rented out the diner as a social club with the intention of re-envisioning the space as a not-for-profit community/social center. The member base is a group of about 40 people, many of whom are neighbors, who also work as artists, academics, urban planners, poets, administrators, teachers, media activists, filmmakers. We feel that it’s important to include the Sunview as part of our practice as we create visuals, make dinners, host events and build on the ideas we exchange there.
